Age: Fifteen
Grade Level/Class Taught/Job: Freshman

Personality:
Growing up the way he did, within a world torn apart by the Flames of Disaster, you would think Silver would be cynical, bitter and rough. In fact, the exact opposite is true of him. Silver is, at his core, a dreamer, with a big heart and even bigger hopes. So, just as with all dreamers, he tends towards the sunny side of life, even when he was still in the midst of his apocalyptic world.
Incredibly naive and surprisingly innocent, despite everything he's witnessed in his young life, Silver is quick to trust and more than willing to believe in the good in people. To Silver everyone is inherently good and wants only what would be in the best interest for everyone. The thought that someone could be lying to him for a selfish goal doesn't occur to him because he isn't selfish in the slightest. Growing up with so little and in such dire straights his whole life has left him generous almost to a fault. If you need it and he has it, he'll give all of it, happily and easily, never thinking he's being taken advantage of. This leads to that very thing, leaving Silver easily manipulated and controlled with only a few sweet words and seemingly sound intentions. A few good lies and he'll do whatever you ask.
Don't let the innocence and naivete fool you into thinking Silver is weak, however. His telekinetics are incredibly strong giving him a significant advantage against many of the opponants he's faced, at least at first. His innocence tends to impede him in battle, as he lacks experience in fighting against others, but make no mistake, he is skilled with his powers and never hesitates to use them as he sees fit. He is headstrong and impulsive, leaping into action without hesitation and often without thinking it through entirely, following his heart rather than his head. This means Silver can get things done where others wouldn't, but it also means he's prone to leaping before he's looked and winding up in over his head.
One thing that lends to this impulsiveness is Silver's natural desire to compete. He's very competitive, not necessarily to prove that he's better than anyone else (though that's part of it as well), but primarily because he very much wants to be the absolute best he can ever possibly be. The best way to do that is to challenge himself against those around him. Particularly those stronger than him. So while he's competitive (and maybe a little bit cocky now and then), he's also gracious about losses. He might be severely disappointed in himself for losing but that isn't going to stop him nor make him hold a grudge. In fact, being better than him at something will just cause Silver to try that much harder. Until he's better at it than you are.
Despite his harsh life, Silver is hopeful, optimistic and very friendly. He likes people and believes in people. He's not a very good judge of character, easily swayed by put on kindnesses and words, but at the same time this means that it doesn't take much for him to be your friend. And once you've made friends with Silver, he will be your friend for life. He is ridiculously loyal and willing to forgive and forget transgressions even on nothing more than a promise. Sure, it means he gets hurt now and then, but he has unshakable faith in the good in everyone's hearts and nothing, not even being betrayed by someone, will change that in him.
Having grown up almost entirely alone, Silver is more than a little socially awkward. He's honest and rather blunt but never in a malicious way. Tact is something he's never really had to have around Blaze, as she prefers to be direct and to the point, leaving Silver innocently lacking in any form of social graces. He's polite and friendly, certainly, but his tendency to just say what he's thinking and be immediately direct leaves him coming across as a little weird and maybe sometimes a little rude. He never means to hurt people, though, and will be quick with a sincere apology should he manage to really offend someone.
Backstory:
(A full rundown of events in Silver's storyline from Sonic '06 can be found here.)
Silver grew up amidst the Flames of Disaster. His entire life consisted of scraping by and learning to survive in the harsh apocalyptic world he was born into. He and his best friend, Blaze, survived together with their mutual powers, helping as much as possible and doing what they could to fight the flames of Iblis when they appeared and strengthened. Silver longed for a way to rid the world of it's fiery tormentor and he found it in Mephiles the Dark.
Or, at least, he would have, if something hadn't gone awry.
Before he could have his fateful encounter with the malevolent demigod, Silver was caught in a Chaos Anomaly and ripped from his world to be thrown into another one. A world not torn apart by flames and destruction. A world that was whole and healthy and full of more people than Silver thought could ever have existed in the history of forever.
He was kindly taken in, as it were, by an elderly Italian man who's native language was similar enough to Soleannan to make Silver feel comfortable and less frightened. The man gave him a job at his restaurant and Silver learned all about the new world he'd arrived in not only from the owner but also from the many patrons that came through. It was how he first heard of those two wonderful things.
The Olympics and the Brawl circuit.
Being the competitive spirit he is, Silver was instantly curious and started learning all he could about the Olympics, first. With so many different events to choose from, he wanted to try them all.
It didn't really turn out very well for him.
Though Silver tried his hardest and did his absolute best, he was dismayed to find that his telekinesis was against the rules, leaving him at a significant disadvantage to the other competitors. Dejected, he looked into Brawling instead. To his great delight any and all powers were welcome in the circuit and, indeed, the matches that he got to watch televised at the restaurant showed that the fighters were all incredibly skilled. Obviously outmatched, Silver refused to be daunted by it and began asking everyone he met about Brawling and what went into it.
Imagine his surprise when he found out there were schools specifically for training future Brawlers.
Which is how Silver the Hedgehog wound up at Smash Academy, bright eyed and determined, with a head full of dreams and a heart full of hope, ready to learn and, most of all, ready to fight!
Anything Else?:
Having grown up in the ruins of Soleanna, Silver is bi-lingual. He speaks English but he also speaks Soleannan, which is kind of similar to Italian. He almost never speaks Soleannan in public, though he might get caught now and then singing something quietly in the language.

[A simple letter in neat, if childlike, printing addressed to someone in a distant city]
Dear Angelo,
I said I would write when I got here, and here I am! I finally made it to the Academy!
I can't get over how big it is! I don't think I've seen anything quite like it before! Well, not in person. Places like this were common back in my world but they were all in ruins. I never got the chance to see them when they were whole and taken care of. It's amazing! Everything is so clean and well taken care of. It feels like I'm going to be living in a mansion!
I'm really excited for classes to start. I've been reading over my schedule and there's so many of them! I hope I do alright. I've never been to school before. They didn't have them anymore on my world so I never did much more than learning to read and write. I'll have to work hard to catch up and keep up if everyone here has been going to classes all their lives. It's going to be tough but I know I can do it!
I wonder how long it will be until we start getting to have practice matches. I really want to get a chance to try actual battles and to compete against others. I just know I'll learn so much just by doing! I know, I know, you're always telling me to slow down but I'm just so excited! This is a dream come true! I have to do my absolute best!
There's so many people, too! Not as much as in the city but there were so many people wandering around the campus already. A bunch of them were in uniforms like the one they gave me when I got here. Which means they're students like me! I haven't met any of them just yet, I wanted to write to you right away so you wouldn't worry about me. I'm sure I'll get to meet lots of them at dinner in the cafeteria later! If I can find my way to it. They gave me a map but I can't remember where I put it. I'm sure it's around here somewhere.
How's the restaurant doing? And how's Lina? I miss you both already. I've already started reading through the school handbook and they have breaks now and then. I'll come back and visit when I get one! I hope you'll be able to find someone to help out, soon. I feel bad leaving you when there's so much to do. If it gets to be too hard and you need me to come back and help, please tell me! You're always saying how you aren't getting any younger, so if you need me, just ask! I just don't want things to be too hard on you both. Let me know how it's going and if your new helper is working hard, okay?
Oh! That's the announcement that the cafeteria is open for dinner! I better get going! Hope to hear back from you soon!
Sincerely,
Silver
In-Character 3rd person sample:
Pausing at the doorway to the cafeteria of the Academy, Silver flicked his ears, listening to the multitude of voices on the other side of it. He'd gotten turned around on the way there and it sounded as though it was already full. Looking down at himself, he fussed, briefly, with his shirt collar and his sad excuse for a tie. He had no idea how to actually tie the thing so had finally just tied it loosely but as neatly as he could and hoped that was good enough.
Satisfied that he at least wasn't breaking dress code already, he pushed through the doors and into the burble of sound within. He paused again, blinking at the amount of people in front of him, still startled by just how many there were, even after nearly a year of being in this world. Every table was occupied by at least a few people and Silver realized he was going to have a hard time finding somewhere to sit.
That didn't stop him from moving over to the serving line, though, the smell of food enticing him to it. Picking up a tray he made his way down the line, smiling brightly at the large ursine lunch lady and introducing himself to her, cheerfully. With his tray finally full of delicious looking things (he made sure to take a little bit of everything to try), Silver turned and found himself once again faced with the room before him. Full of students and teachers alike and every table taken by someone. Wandering between the tables a little awkwardly for a moment or two, he finally shook his head and huffed at himself.
"Stop being silly and pick a spot." he mumbled, under his breath. Stopping at the nearest table, Silver gave the occupant his brightest, friendliest smile.
"Is this seat taken..?"
